Instances of cyber-attacks on ships are now happening at the rate of more than one per day and operators and owners of vessels must consider how they can improve their cyber security and protect their assets.
The IASME Consortium have recently launched The Maritime Cyber Baseline Scheme (MCB) A worldwide scheme which is designed to certify the cyber security of all commercial vessels and is accessible to operators and owners of vessels of all sizes.
The scheme (backed by the RINA – Royal Institute of Naval Architects) will allow the operators and owners of vessels to start their journey towards compliance with cyber requirements set by port authorities, flag state and large customers in line with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Guidelines on Maritime Cyber Risk Management.
